Among the various initiatives that the celebration in 2020 of the centenary of the birth of António Martinho do Rosário (1920-1980) – a writer known in the history of literature and theatre as Bernardo Santareno – includes this book born from the will of the actress and director Fernanda Lapa (1943-2020) and the challenge she launched to CET-Center for Theatre Studies of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon to carry it out. Two years later and with a pandemic in between, the promise was fulfilled, adding to the bibliography produced in Portugal and other countries a set of essays, articles and testimonials that continue the not always easy claim for a central place for the work of Bernardo Santareno in 20th century theatre.
In Santarém, readers, spectators, theater amateurs and professionals, authors and organizers will discuss Bernardo Santareno’s work based on his work.
