The fundamental aim of this course was to carry out a comparative approach to works from different artistic fields, which dialogue with each other, within the scope of Portuguese, Spanish and Ibero-American spaces. These aspects were studied from a comparative perspective, allowing for different crossovers between literature and the visual and performing arts. The course took into account, on the one hand, Iberian and Ibero-American cultural and historical contexts and, on the other hand, the complexity of the aforementioned artistic systems considered as a whole.
The training course was part of one of the core lines of work at the Centre for Comparative Studies, with recognized experience in organizing courses, workshops and other brief training sessions aimed at the community. Concretely, the course was linked to the interests of the project, DIIA – Iberian and Ibero-American Dialogues –, dedicated to the study of literary productions in Portugal, Spain and Latin/Hispanic America from a comparative, transnational and interlinguistic perspective.
This training course’s focus on performing arts also coincided with one of the main research areas carried out by the CET group, the History of Theatre and Performance: the study of theatre both in its literary context as well as the broader scope of the performing arts.
