The Jornadas de Estudos de Teatro: (Re)conhecer Osório Mateus intend to mark the beginning of Theatre Studies, an area of knowledge that currently brings together a large number of students, researchers and teachers in the three learning cycles of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and at the Center for Theater Studies.

This first cycle of events will focus on Osório Mateus, professor, researcher, theatre figure and founder of the Centre for Theatre Studies, evoking highlights in his work: the research on images and texts regarding theatre, the theatrical practice both as a director and actor, teaching and research. Through exhibitions, lectures, round tables, open classes and a documentary, testimonies of his various projects will be discussed, giving an account of the permanence of this work until the present day, either through new researchers or in the memory of former students.

More than the evocation of a remarkable figure for theatre studies, this event intends to reflect on the progress of this area of knowledge and what it can still achieve.
