The Dramaturgy Laboratory was conceived by Teatro Meridional, in collaboration with CET, and aims to encourage the creation of new texts in Portuguese by promoting a joint venture between writers and a panel of artists and academics in the writing of a text.

Each candidate had to present an original and unpublished synopsis in Portuguese and a scene, or part of one, a minimum of 4 A4 pages in length. Each candidate had to use a pseudonym, created for this purpose, as well as an email address.

The 6th edition of the Dramaturgy Laboratory proposed a soundscape (see the Regulations) by the musician Rui Rebelo as a motto/starting point for the writing of the texts.
