The magazine, Sinais de Cena, has a prominent position among publications specializing in theatre and the performing arts in Portugal. Founded in 2004, a second series was launched in 2016, published by Orfeu Negro, becoming annual and more widely distributed.
The theme of the 2018 issue was “Teorias da Crítica” (Critical Theories) with contributions from various national and international critics, such as José Maria Vieira Mendes, Francesca Rayner, Luiz Fernando Ramos, Diana Damian-Martin, José Alberto Ferreira and Gustavo Vicente. Besides various essays on the performing arts, this issue included a long interview with the dancer and choreographer, Marlene Monteiro Freitas and a portfolio on Mala Voadora’s set design.
