The “Grupo de leitura e práticas performativas: artes performativas: atenção, afeto, dispositivo”” proposed a process of reflection on and experiencing aesthetic, political and existential aspects of the performing arts, based on three concepts: quality of attention, circulation of affection and creative devices. In contemporary societies, the care economy is closely linked to affective economies and, therefore, they are the target of increased control and surveillance. As the performing arts are an encounter with the other, in a certain environment, which summons/provokes a certain quality of attention and circulation of affection, creating vibrational spaces with specific stimuli and effects, how can scenic devices enhance other modes of (our) understanding and acting in the world?
The meetings were based on the reading of theoretical and artistic texts as material for reflection, dialogue and creation of performative situations, aiming at sharing the issues raised by the group. In this sense, the collective discovery of the final sharing format was a significant issue during our time together, as thought was made experience and experience thought. Some possible developments of the proposed themes were:
1- Attention:
– The problem of attention in contemporary societies; dispersion, transformation of rhythms, colonization of time.
– The performing arts and the quality of attention; dialogues with traditional philosophy, knowledge and practices.
2- Affection:
– Atmospheres, intensive spaces, affective economies, circulation of affections, quality of states.
– The performing arts and the creation of resonant and vibrational spaces; new paradigms for understanding the scenic event.
3- Devices
– Devices, configuration of discursive and non-discursive elements around questions and propositions.
– Creation of performative situations for sharing the issues raised.
