CET organised a lecture on “Crítica de processo de criação” with Cecília Salles of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC/SP), which took place on 12th October 2018 in Room B.3 at the FLUL library.

Cecília Salles presented the history of research into genetic criticism at PUC/SP, since the 1990s. A study of documents (diaries, notes, drafts) of a process that was based on contemporary Brazilian literature and expanded to other artistic genres, such as theatre, the visual arts and dance. The analysis of these diverse types of documents from different areas made it possible to observe some general aspects of the creation process: a possible theory of artistic creation based on semiotics, in dialogue with the concept of a network and cultural thinkers. It is in this context that a critical process is proposed, supported by the concept of creation as a network under construction.

Cecilia Almeida Salles is the Full Professor of the Post-Graduate Communication and Semiotics Programme at PUC/SP, as well as being Coordinator of the Research Group in Creation Processes. She is also the author of Gesto Inacabado (1998), Crítica Genética (2008), Redes da Criação (2006), Arquivos de Criação: arte e curadoria (2010) and Processos de criação em grupo: diálogos (2017).
