As part of the Encontros PERPHOTO 2020/21, on 4th December, Tânia Dinis presented, in a live stream, Imaginário familiar – linha de tempo [Family Images – Timeline], part of the series Arquivo de Família [Family Archive]. This was followed by a debate on the problematics of the performative potential of the archive and the pertinence of images as an object and matter of discourse.
Imaginário familiar – linha de tempo was part of research and creation work, on intimacy, family archive, document, time-image-memory-dream relationship; and these works in particular, were inserted in the series, Arquivo de Família, which is in constant development and crosses different perspectives and artistic fields, such as photography, performance and cinema. This project began by researching and collecting images, personal or not, as well as other devices: films, letters, slides, photographs, objects. These would be brought together later in artistic experiments, reorganized, revisited and manipulated by montage, implementing collages and sound fragments, building small narratives. Image and sound would thus be confronted, exploring the idea of image as an experience of the ephemeral nature of time and memory.
