These two texts from the new Portuguese dramaturgy were created as part of the Dramaturgy Laboratory, a project conceived by the Meridional Theatre in collaboration with the Centre for Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.
The 1st edition of this Laboratory (September 2013-July 2014) proposed a scenic space developed by set designer Fernando Ribeiro as a starting point for writing. The first, by Jorge Palinhos, Parking, presents a socially maladjusted family searching for their car in a shopping centre's underground car park. Tiago Patrício, in Dematerialisation, creates a fable about contemporary capitalism, set against the backdrop of a bankrupt factory.
