Questionar Apaixonadamente: O teatro na vida de Luís Miguel Cintra

Luís Miguel Cintra won the 2005 Pessoa Prize.

It’s impossible to talk about 20th century Portuguese theatre without mentioning the Teatro da Cornucópia and its most recognisable face: Luís Miguel Cintra – the multifaceted actor, director, playwright, set designer, costume designer, translator – whose work also honours us internationally, largely thanks to his cinematographic work, especially the films of Manoel de Oliveira.
Betting on the dissemination of theatre (Portuguese and foreign, new and classic), with more than 100 titles published in this area in about 15 years, Cotovia commissioned Maria Helena Serôdio (Full Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, specialist in Theatre Studies and English Literature, and Director of Internships for Young Critics of the International Association of Theatre Critics) to analyse Luís Miguel Cintra’s work – which was intended to be comprehensive and rigorous, but also captivating for less specialised audiences.
After a year of intense work, Questioning passionately: the theatre in the life of Luís Miguel Cintra appears.
