“Teatro Máquina and Brecht: Creative Processes in Crisis and Reflection” reviews the history of the Teatro Máquina theatre group, based in Ceará, Brazil, of
which Fran Teixeira is a member, and which in 2023 marked twenty years of ongoing research and creative work. The aim is to present how the group has
developed its artistic language throughout its history, explore its production methods through selected performances from its repertoire, and showcase the
poetic materials that were key to the creation of works most closely linked to Brechtian epic theatre. Through a discussion of these works, the aim is to
highlight the pressing issues surrounding maintenance, production, communication and training practices faced by the theatre group. Moderator: Alexandra
Marinho de Oliveira, postdoctoral researcher and researcher at CET.
Date: June 5, 2026
