On February 27, at 6:30 p.m., the book Mobile Foci – Acting in the Intensive Field of the Performing Arts, by Ana Kfouri (Javali Publishing), will be launched in Portugal. The event will feature a conversation between the author and the performing artist, professor, and researcher at CET/FLUL and O Canto do Bode, Vítor Lemos, guided by the questions raised in this pedagogical-artistic book by Kfouri, originally published in Brazil in 2025. Mobile Foci constitutes a sharing of the body-thought that runs through the artist’s research, centered on the body–word relationship within the intensive field of the performing arts, as well as on the practice for actresses and actors that the director has developed throughout her trajectory. The result of a postdoctoral research project carried out at PPGAC/UFRJ, the book articulates conceptualization and practice, presenting dynamics that are described, filmed, and made available through links—something akin to a book-as-scene. Mobile Foci underscores the urgency, today, of working with the body–word relationship as a foundation for a more expanded approach to teaching, with the aim of encouraging discussion in academic research, artistic language investigations, the professional field, and society at large. It proposes that the experience of the word be rethought and developed through its relationship with the body.
