Baz Kershaw, the influential scholar and artist-researcher in the field of Theatre and Performance Studies, passed away on March 31.
His thinking, artistic practices, and publications at the intersection of theatrical making and academic research provided a fundamental impetus for the development of the expanded field of Practice-as-Research, particularly in its applications to ecology and environmental sciences, and they remain essential points of reference to this day.
Emeritus Professor at the University of Warwick, his voice resonated across multiple domains of knowledge and civic engagement from the 1980s onwards, inspiring an entire generation of researchers around the world.
His absence will be deeply felt by the members of the Centre for Theatre Studies, for which he served as an external advisor between 2013 and 2024.
