The new issue of Sinais de Cena: Journal of Theatre and Performance Studies will be presented on 19 June, at 6:30 p.m., at Livraria Ler Devagar – Casa do Comum, in Lisbon.Issue 5 of the journal includes the thematic dossier “Theatre, Revolution and the Construction of Democracy”, bringing together critical reflections on processes of democratic construction in pre- and post-revolutionary contexts, as well as on the role played by theatre and performance — and the places they occupied — in these moments of historical, political and social transformation.In addition to the dossier, this issue features articles on theatre and the performing arts, an interview with Luís Lucas, the visual portfolio “Photography in Times of Transformation”, with photographs from Comuna, reviews of performances, book reviews on the performing arts, and a set of texts celebrating the invaluable contribution of Maria Helena Serôdio to theatre studies.
