Immersion with Ciane Fernandes (UFBA)
For the sixth edition of the programming cycle Practices of Encounter, the Center for Theater Studies (CET/FLUL) and the acting studio O Canto do Bode are organizing the immersion “Somatic-Performative Approach, Intermodality, and Counter-Colonial Research” with Ciane Fernandes (Federal University of Bahia – UFBA). This immersion aims to explore the principles of the Somatic-Performative Approach, applied to key contemporary issues, in the relational context of intermodality in Practice as Research. Through embodied ethical- aesthetic processes, social equality begins with expanded cellular intelligence, in the Body-Environment Immersion, and the fluid transit between plural cultural fields that include living writings.

Artist-researchers (especially artists of the body, stage and performance) and those interested, from any field, in research through intermodal body movement.

Since 2008, she has focused on Somatics and the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System applied to Artistic Practice as Research, in the context of performance in an expanded field, especially ecoperformance in aquatic environments, in dialogue with diversity and disability. In this thematic field, she has developed the Somatic-Performative Approach and Immersion as Research.
Práticas de Encontro is a programming cycle promoted by the Centre for Theatre Studies of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon and the performance studio O Canto do Bode with a view to exploring the epistemological, affective and creative scope that encounters between different people and collectives can provide. We are particularly interested in experimenting with alternative practices of coexistence, dialogue and recognition of the lived experience of relating to others as a way of creating possible worlds.
Canto do Bode (www.ocantodobode.com) is a studio in Lisbon dedicated to the development of processes and studies on acting, the psychophysical improvement of the actor/actress-performer and the development of artistic projects.
The Centre for Theatre Studies (www.ceteatro.pt) has been a privileged venue for artistic research activities and the training of researchers in the study of theatre since 1994. It is an organic unit of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), to which several of its members belong, and which also includes researchers and collaborators from other universities and schools in the country, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers and theatre professionals.
