This volume brings together some of the essays presented at the colloquium ‘Theatre by Portuguese Authors of the 17th Century: (in)common places of a restored theatre’, organised by the Centre for Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, with the collaboration of the Lisbon Museum, on 28, 29 and 30 January 2015 at FLUL and Palácio Pimenta. This collection offers the most recent advances in research into 17th century Portuguese theatre. The aim of this volume is to give an account of the variety of approaches that the seventeenth-century theatre corpus allows us to develop and, in this way, to promote the emergence of new studies that add to and renew our knowledge of it.
