This volume, dedicated to the dramatic creation of Alves Redol (1911-1969), brings together, for the first time, his four published plays (Maria Emília 1945, 1966; Forja 1948, 1966; O Destino Morreu de Repente 1967, and Fronteira Fechada 1972), some of which have been performed regularly, plus the presentation of six unpublished plays found in the writer’s estate and in documentary collections. Of these unpublished plays, three were staged in the 1950s, accompanied by the playwright himself, and one was expressly put together for this collection, from parts scattered throughout the same part of the estate. An autonomous part of this work also includes the playwright’s prefaces, which were part of the editions (or re-editions) of his plays from the 60s onwards.
