The TAP XVIII – Teatro em Português Proibido e Censurado do Século XVIII project has been approved in the 2023 call for funding for I & D projects in all scientific fields. Its Principal Investigator is José Camões, and the initial team is made up of Maria João Almeida, Marie-Noëlle Ciccia, Licínia Rodrigues Ferreira, Marta Brites Rosa, who will be joined by a doctor and a scholarship holder. Funding: €242,568.00 The project focuses on the electronic edition of 18th century plays banned by censorship. The manuscripts fall into two groups: those that were banned outright and therefore never printed, and those that were cut or altered after the censorship examination. For these, new software will allow the user to visualise in synoptic form the fragments of the texts where censorship has intervened. This edition rescues part of Portugal's theatrical heritage.
