The recognition of the role of translation in the construction of identity representations of foreign cultures and the notion that the dramatic text is incomplete without its representation or ‘realisation’ on stage have led to theatrical translation being seen as an ‘intercultural process’, raising fundamental questions about the relationship between the dramatic text and the translation of that text, whether interlingual or intersemiotic.
The papers presented at the Act 15 Colloquium were precisely intended to address this intersection of perspectives, interests and methodologies in Translation Studies and Theatre Studies, welcoming diverse contributions from specialists in these areas, translators and directors.
